March 2008 my son Andrew passed over. I want to thank all of you for your continued support, kindness and understanding throughout this past year. Every day without him is a sad day. Yet we know that Andrew, as is each child was indeed a gift. We are thankful we had that gift with us for 27 wonderful years. In Ireland we mark a passing with a wake a grand Irish affair of music and stories a celebration of the life we shared. That wake lasts for 3 full days, the memory of it forever. When Andrew passed  we came back here to Tir Na nOg after the service. and we held an Irish wake, it was a wonderful day of music and stories, tears and laughter.  He loved this pub and everyone he knew in it." He referred to it the enchanted forest." And as a writer he loved that he found characters here, and he read them, and took away what they shared, he was a born listener, a born story teller.
As the time approaches for us to mark that a full year has gone by without him visibly in our lives. We wanted to mark the occasion with a benefit for the foundation which we set up in his name, the foundation page is available for all to see, so go to it and learn more. We have managed to help several local organizations throughout the year. All good things that Andrew would be proud to have his name attached to. We hope that you can stop by and visit with us on Sunday. And again Thank you to all for being such wonderful and supportive friends to us. Andrews books continue to sell and the last one he wrote The Invisible is now available on paperback in a store near you. When you read them think of him and smile. He loved writing, it was his passion, and he loved to know that people like you enjoyed his work. He lives on forever in our hearts and in the pages of those books.

Tir Na nOg Raleigh First & finest Irish Pub where we are proud to be irish all year:

Saturday Jan 31st 7pm

The NC Emerald Society Winter Ball

with proceeds going to assist a member of Raleigh RPD: A young Police Officer who is suffering from Leukemia.

We choose to support this event as Andrew worked alongside several members of RPD  while writing both The American and The Assassin.  He had talked about going back to school to study law enforcement as he enjoyed the subject, and he felt it would help with his writing. He had GREAT admiration for those who served and a particular fondness for  RPD.

  • The reason we choose these 3 Fund Raisers for 2008.

Sadly our beautiful  Andrew passed over in

    March 2008

This is the first year for the Foundation. As we gather speed & funds through holding our own fund raisers and generate public awareness. We will be able to support some more events in 2009.

WE  all feel we choose 3 great causes. the reason for our choice was simple.

It was what he would have wanted.

    # 1:

We have family with autistic children. And life with an autistic child can be very stressful for parents and  the siblings. So we felt that a few moms could use a break. Cos if Mom ain't Happy well nobody is happy.  At a later date we hope  to salute the Dad's & siblings.

                                       #2

Andrew was working on  a new novel which is based in Darfur. The worst humanitarian crisis of our time. It is a subject that pained him greatly

He would be 100% behind Tents of Hope.

      #3

Andrew was quiet & very reserved , The Quiet man who had trouble mixing in public. As a teenager he became a different person when he discovered a love for music through  joining " The Rockford High school band"  Michigan. It brought him out of his shell he loved the music & the company of fellow artists, and as an adult he broke away from the stress of being a writer & everyday living  by Keeping lots of dance space in his home. One of His favorite bands  included   www.snowpatrol.com.
We dedicate the song open your eyes to him

    Music is a wonderful Gift.
